Charter Tips & Advice
Preparation

Documents
One of the most important documents you’ll need is a valid passport! Check your current passport now and make sure it’s up-to-date, or if near expiration start the process now of renewing. If you have no passport, now would be a good time to apply for one!

Travel
Plan your flights ahead of time and include them into your travel costs before booking your charter. You’ll also need to plan accordingly for getting to and from your airports, whether cab, shuttle, ferry, etc. Need help? Just reach out and we’ll help get everything in order for you!
Packing

Luggage
Carry-on luggage is HIGHLY recommended and will make all your travelling much easier. The last thing you’d want is luggage getting lost or delayed, interrupting your vacation. Pack light, with smaller carry-ons so that all your belongings are with you at all times, on and off the boat!
With storage limited on certain vessels, like catamarans for instance, your crew will definitely appreciate the foresight of boarding with easily-stowed luggage like duffle bags and backpacks.
Don’t forget your toothbrush and toothpaste!

Documents
Be sure to pack a printed copy of your contract agreement, or have a screenshot accessible on your devices. Don’t forget your passports and other vital identification as well, and keep them all together in a zip-lock freezer bag for easy access plus waterproofing!

Protection
It’s recommended to bring travel size sunscreens and tanning lotions with you on your trip. Sunscreen is available almost anywhere you’ll travel to, but these things are always cheapest when bought at home, plus you’ll be able to grab your favorite brands.
Along with sunscreen, you’ll also want your favorite sunglasses and possibly even hat, to fully enjoy the tropical sun with no discomfort or risk of sunburns.
Most yachts do have sunscreens and basic toiletries onboard as a standard amenity, in case you run out. Hairdryers should be provided, but confirm with us when you book your charter.

Meds
Access to pharmacies is limited, so be sure to remember any and all prescription medications you might need while on your trip. If you’re prone to seasickness, be sure to consult with your physician or pharmacist to get the best remedies for you.

Waterproof Cameras
No better way to capture the memories on your trip than with pictures, so be sure to pack waterproof cameras! You can find waterproof and underwater disposable cameras almost anywhere, but another good idea would be getting a GoPro camera for your trip. You’ll also want to invest in a good waterproof case for your mobile devices!

Electronics
You’ll need to charge all your waterproofed devices, after spending hours all day snapping beautiful pictures! Be sure to bring all your chargers and charging cords, plus any aux cords you may need to connect your devices to the yacht’s stereo system. You may want to put together some fun playlists on your devices to enjoy as well!
If your devices take memory cards, bring extra so you never run out of room documenting your adventure!

Cash, Cards & Tips
Tipping your crew is at your discretion, based on performance and experience provided. 15-20% of the charter fee is usually standard, and is provided in cash to your crew or captain when leaving the vessel.
Most of the islands accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover for shopping and restaurants, etc. However, American Express is usually NOT accepted, so plan accordingly.

Roaming & Data
Check with your cell provider regarding any additional fees you may incur for your charter destination. Most offer fairly cheap international plans for travelling out of country. Let them know your destinations and time away from home, and also discuss this with your broker and crew prior to the charter.

Wi-Fi
Your yacht will have wi-fi for basic emails and communication, but most likely not enough speed for streaming or downloading large content. Download all your favorite digital content to your device or memory cards ahead of time so you can enjoy throughout the trip.
